Terms of Use

1. Use of the App

The App provides a daily vocabulary word with definitions, etymology, examples, and related information for educational and personal enrichment purposes. The App is available on iOS devices.

You agree to use the App only for its intended purpose and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. You may not:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Copy, modify, or distribute the App's content without permission
• Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair its functionality
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any systems or data associated with the App

2. Free and Premium Features

The App offers both free and premium features:

• Free features: A new word every day with its definition, pronunciation, etymology, and examples, and access to browse past words.
• Premium features: Saving words to your own set and practising them, unlimited on-demand practice, mastery statistics, and all widget styles. Premium features require an active subscription or a one-time Lifetime purchase.

3. Purchase Terms

3.1 Plans, Pricing and Billing

• Premium is offered as: a monthly subscription, an annual subscription, or a Lifetime one-time purchase (a non-consumable). All three unlock the same premium features.
• The current price of each plan is displayed in the App and on the App Store before you confirm a purchase, in your local currency as determined by the App Store. Not every plan is offered at all times.
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase, except where a free trial applies (see 3.2).
• Prices may vary by region and are subject to change. For subscriptions, any price change will apply to the next renewal period and Apple will notify you as required.

3.2 Free Trial

• Where offered, a free trial applies to the annual subscription only. The monthly subscription and the Lifetime purchase do not include a trial.
• The trial's length is shown in the App before you confirm the purchase.
• The free trial provides full access to all premium features.
• If you do not cancel before the free trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription at the standard rate.
• Free trial eligibility is determined by Apple and is typically available once per Apple ID, per subscription group. The App only offers the trial to accounts Apple reports as eligible; if you are not eligible, the trial will not be offered and you will be charged the standard rate at confirmation of purchase.

3.3 Auto-Renewal (subscriptions only)

• Your subscription automatically renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
• Your Apple ID account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
• Upon renewal, you will be charged the standard subscription rate.

3.4 Cancellation (subscriptions only)

• You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings.
• To cancel: Open the Settings app on your device → Tap your name → Subscriptions → Select Vocabulary Daily Words → Tap Cancel Subscription.
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to premium features until that date.
• No partial refunds are provided for unused portions of a subscription period.

3.5 Lifetime (one-time purchase)

• The Lifetime plan is a one-time purchase, charged once at confirmation of purchase. It does not renew, and there is no subscription to cancel.
• It unlocks premium features on any device signed in to the same Apple Account, for as long as the App remains available and functional. It does not oblige us to operate the App indefinitely (see section 6).
• If you reinstall the App or move to a new device, use Restore Purchases on the premium screen to recover your Lifetime purchase.

3.6 Refunds

All purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests must be submitted directly to Apple in accordance with their refund policy. We do not have the ability to process refunds. You may request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.

4. Intellectual Property

All content in the App — including word definitions, etymologies, examples, design, graphics, and software — is the property of Aleksandrs Visnakovs or used under appropriate licence. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the App's content without prior written permission.

Word definitions and etymological information are provided for educational purposes and are compiled from publicly available linguistic and historical sources.

5. Accuracy of Content

We strive to ensure that all word definitions, etymologies, pronunciations, and examples are accurate and well-researched. However, language is complex and evolving, and we do not guarantee that all content is free from errors. The App is intended for general educational use and should not be relied upon as a sole reference for academic, professional, or legal purposes.

6. Availability

We aim to keep the App available and functioning at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The App may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App at any time without prior notice.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
• We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App.
• Our total liability for any claim related to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim.

8. Apple's Standard EULA

In addition to these Terms, your use of the App is subject to Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (EULA) for Licensed Applications, available at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. In the event of any conflict between these Terms and Apple's EULA, Apple's EULA shall prevail with respect to matters within Apple's scope.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Latvia, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Latvia, except where consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction provide otherwise.

10. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective date" at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.
